Administration Approves Drone Sale to Taiwan

$600 million sale will give island nation four advanced surveillance drones.

President Trump’s administration announced that it had approved the sale of four advanced surveillance drones to Taiwan on Tuesday. The cost of the drones is $600 million and is expected to help defend the island nation from Chinese interference. The State Department sent a notice to Congress about the sale, and the exports are expected in July.

The notice sent to Congress said, “This proposed sale serves U.S. national, economic, and security interests by supporting the recipient’s continuing efforts to modernize its armed forces and to maintain a credible defensive capability. The proposed sale will help improve the security of the recipient and assist in maintaining political stability, military balance, economic, and progress in the region.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president’s administration as it seeks to preserve peace around the world.
  • For Congress to have wisdom on the best course of action with the notice of the sale.
  • For God to help the State Department build strong relationships with other nations.
